This two-week workshop will dazzle you.
This will truly be a vacation to remember, but it's much more than a vacation. La Romita School of Art has been providing artists, both professional and amateur, with the perfect working vacation for nearly 50 years. Students and instructors stay at La Romita, an exquisitely renovated sixteenth century Capuchin monastery surrounded by olive groves in the foothills of the Apennine mountains. Classes are held in La Romita’s frescoed chapel, there will be day trips to the various scenic hill towns that dot the region. Experience sweeping vistas, exquisite food, and the warm hospitality that this area offers.
This is a pastel landscape workshop but the door is wide open for other materials if desired. Throughout the plein air workshop Barbara will teach you how to focus on and improve your composition, how to structure your paintings using a solid value study that keeps the eye moving around the composition. In addition, you will learn how to interpret the enticing rich colors and warm textures that are unique to the Italian landscape.
Barbara has taught painting for nearly 20 years. Barbara’s classes are informal but informative, fun, safe, and supportive. There is no feeling of competition, but rather a feeling of camaraderie.
